Sizing a solar system for an Iraqi summer
Load studies, panel choice and the storage maths behind a stable supply.

Sizing a system for an Iraqi summer
Peak demand here arrives in July, in the afternoon, at exactly the moment panel output is falling because the cells are hot. A system sized on nameplate figures alone will disappoint in the month you bought it for.
The load study
We measure what actually runs and when: air conditioning, pumps, freezers, and the evening lighting peak after sunset. The evening matters most — that is what the battery, not the panels, has to cover.
Panels, then storage
| Decision | What drives it |
|---|---|
| Panel count | Daytime load and usable roof area |
| Inverter size | Largest simultaneous load, not the average |
| Battery size | Hours of evening use you want covered |
Oversizing storage is the most common way to pay for capacity that never gets used.
